A man was tragically pronounced dead after police shot and killed him during a shootout in Frederick, Maryland, on Saturday night.
On Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 6:20 p.m., police were dispatched to an apartment complex located at 1500 East Street, Frederick, to search for a man wanted for either parole or probation violation.
At the scene, a woman met officers at the front door of an apartment building. Once inside, they discovered their wanted suspect trying to conceal himself in a closet.

Police report that the suspect brandished a knife during this exchange.
Officers ordered the suspect to drop the knife, but he refused.
Officers fired multiple rounds at the man, striking and killing him.
He was quickly pronounced deceased from his injuries at the scene.
On Saturday night, Police Chief Jason Lando held a news conference to update the public on the tragic shooting.
Chief Lando confirmed that there was a warrant out for the suspect’s arrest before the shooting.
