On Presidents Day 2023, here’s what will be open and closed.

On Monday, February 20, 2016, Presidents Day is observed across America as a federal holiday to honor America’s 45 commanders-in-chief (Grover Cleveland served two nonconsecutive terms and is therefore recognized as both the 22nd and 24th US President).

Officially, this holiday is known as Washington’s Birthday, since it typically falls around George Washington’s February 22nd date of birth.

Though many retail stores will be open Monday, many corporate offices and government agencies will not be open.

On Presidents Day 2023, here’s what’s open and closed.

Presidents Day 2023 Banks

Presidents Day is a bank holiday in the Federal Reserve system, so most banks will be closed on Monday. Notably, TD Bank will remain open and other banks’ online and ATM machines will also be operating as usual.

On Monday, both the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ will be closed for business.

USPS also will not deliver residential or business mail on Monday; however, UPS (UPS), FedEx(FDX) Ground and Home Delivery services continue as usual.

Government Agencies

Nonessential government offices at all levels – federal, state, county and city – will be closed Monday. Examples include DMV offices, libraries, courthouses and city hall. Furthermore, federal and state courts will also be shut down for the day.

Retail

Most stores and restaurants will be open Monday, but make sure to double-check with local businesses first. Big box stores like Walmart, Target, Costco as well as most supermarkets should be accessible.
