Facebook Parent Launching Subscription Service

Meta Platforms Inc. has launched a paid subscription service that enables users to verify their accounts with government identification and gain direct access to customer support teams.

Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg announced Sunday on social media that Meta Verified will enhance security and authenticity across all of the company's services.

Meta officials stated that their program is designed to "assist up-and-coming creators in expanding their reach and building communities faster."

For Facebook and Instagram accounts that sign up from a web browser, the service will cost $11.99 per month.

Meta has estimated the price for subscriptions through devices running Android or Apple Inc's iOS system at $14.99 a month.

This week, Australia and New Zealand will begin testing of the service.
